The questions every mum asks

The things you're wondering, answered plainly.

Q.Is it safe while I'm breastfeeding?

Yes — it's suitable for breastfeeding mothers when consumed as directed, and the formula was reviewed by an OB-GYN. It's not for use during pregnancy. If you have a medical condition or take medication, check with your healthcare professional first.

Q.Will it actually do anything?

These are high-dose, whole-leaf botanicals long used by nursing mothers. Hot water extracts compounds capsules can't. Many mums describe noticing a difference within a couple of weeks; everyone is different, which is why the 30-day promise exists.

Q.Won't it taste medicinal?

The opposite. The taste profile was built by a chef — think a gentle herbal chai, fennel and cardamom-forward, smooth, not bitter. Lovely over ice, warm, with a splash of milk or on its own, so it's easy to keep up daily.

Q.Can I take it with my medication?

As with any new supplement, check with your healthcare professional if you're on medication or managing a condition. The ingredient list is fully published below so you (or your GP) can see exactly what's in it.

Q.I've never heard of The SABI.

Fair. We're a UK brand built by two founders who nursed five children in five years. We collaborate on women's hormone health with practitioners across the UK — including the UK's perinatal practitioner of the year — and we're rated 4.7 by 67 verified buyers.

Q.£22 feels like a lot for tea.

It isn't really tea. This is a high-dose herbal infusion: several grams of whole-leaf herbs per serving, closer to a liquid supplement than a supermarket teabag. That works out to about 55p a cup, less than a fifth of a high-street coffee and naturally caffeine-free. One box lasts roughly a month when cycled, and the 30-day promise means you're not stuck with it.

The botanicals

What's inside

Eight whole-leaf herbs, and how herbalism has traditionally used each one.

Ingredients Vervain · Cinnamon · Fennel · Moringa · Oat Straw · Stinging Nettle · Cardamom · Holy Basil
VervainVerbena officinalis · aerial parts

The European "holy herb", traditionally classed as a nervine — the herb of the wound-up and overwrought, long taken to soften tension.

A quiet, faintly bitter, herbaceous finishing note.

CinnamonCinnamomum · bark

A warming carminative spice revered across postpartum traditions around the world, classically used to bring warmth and take the edge off.

Rounds out the aromatic top.

FennelFoeniculum vulgare · seed

Traditionally classed as a carminative and galactagogue herb — in the old herbals, a settling, after-dinner seed (the saunf chewed across India) and, for centuries, one of the herbs nursing mothers reached for.

Aromatic and anise-sweet; the backbone of the cup.

MoringaMoringa oleifera · leaf

The "drumstick tree", or malunggay — traditionally a nutritive leaf-food rather than a medicine, cooked into postpartum soups across South Asia and East Africa and revered as a sustaining green for new mothers.

Mild and deeply green in the blend.

Oat StrawAvena sativa · aerial parts

In Western herbalism the classic nervine trophorestorative — the herb traditionally turned to for the frayed, depleted, "running on empty" state, taken as a steadying daily infusion.

Soft and hay-sweet; the mellow base the blend sits on.

Stinging NettleUrtica dioica · leaf

Traditionally a nutritive tonic and alterative — a spring "blood-building" restorative, long valued as a mineral-rich green to replenish and sustain.

Green and faintly grassy.

CardamomElettaria cardamomum · pod & seed

Traditionally a warming carminative and digestive aromatic — the "queen of spices", the heart of chai, used to settle and warm.

Sweet and lightly eucalyptic; it lifts the whole blend.

Holy BasilOcimum sanctum · leaf · Tulsi

Revered in Ayurveda as a premier adaptogen — "the incomparable one", grown in courtyards and taken daily as the herb of resilience and calm under strain.

Warm and clove-like, clarifying on the finish.

FAQ

What makes The SABI different from regular herbal tea?

The SABI is not regular herbal tea.

SABI blends are functional herbal infusions. They are intentionally formulated with concentrated quantities of whole-leaf botanicals to support specific moments in women’s hormonal lives, including complicated painful periods, digestion, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding support, to overcome stress and troubled sleep.

Every botanical is selected for its traditional use, taste profile, and supporting scientific research. Every herb we use has a scientific study backing up its efficacy and function. Our blends are made to be used consistently, as a meaningful part of how you support your body through changing hormonal needs.

How long does it take to feel a difference?

Every body responds differently.

Some women notice a difference quickly (within hours), while others need more time and consistency. Herbs are active plant compounds. They are best used regularly, giving your body time to respond.

We recommend giving your body 30 days, especially if you are using a blend for cyclical, digestive, postpartum, breastfeeding, stress or sleep support.

Why herbs?

Herbs are one of the oldest ways to work with plants. And hot water infusions remain the gold standard to extract their beneficial compounds.

Across cultures, women have used herbs for generations to support digestion, rest, recovery, milk flow, cycles, mood and the changing demands placed on the body.

At The SABI, we combine this traditional plant knowledge with modern formulation standards, careful ingredient selection and supporting scientific research. We believe deeply in the power of plants, especially when they are used consistently, thoughtfully and in the right context.

Are the SABI products science backed?

Our formulas are developed using botanicals with a long history of traditional use, alongside supporting scientific research on the individual ingredients.

We do not claim that herbs work the same way for every person, and our products are not medicines. But we do formulate carefully, intentionally, and with deep respect for both traditional herbal knowledge and modern evidence.

Each formulation has been developed with input from specialists across herbal medicine, women’s health, microbiology and flavour, including a Master Herbalist, Naturopathic Doctor, Nutritionist, OB-GYN, Microbiologist and Chef.

We are obsessive about ingredient quality and sourcing, because we believe this is one of the most fundamental elements of creating effective, high-integrity products.

If you are a customer and would like to understand more about how our formulations are built, please reach out to one of our founders directly at info@thesabi.co.

Are our products medicines?

No. The SABI products are not medicines and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

They are functional herbal infusions and skincare products designed to support women through hormonal life stages and everyday changes in the body, including stress, sleep, digestion, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, cycle changes and skin barrier support.

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or managing a medical condition, we always recommend checking with your healthcare practitioner before introducing herbs.

Which product should I start with?

It depends on what your body is asking for.

Choose the Breastfeeding Blend if you are nursing and want herbal support during the physically demanding season of feeding.

Choose Mama Recover if you are postpartum and want to support replenishment, recovery, hormonal shifts, and your return to yourself after birth.

Choose The Calm Blend if you are navigating stress, poor sleep, tension or an overactive nervous system.

Choose the Digestive Blend if you experience bloating, heaviness after meals or digestive discomfort.

Choose the Gentle Period Blend if you want support around your cycle, crippling pains, hormonal migraines, intense cycles, bloating and general unease.

Choose the Active Nutrient Serum if your skin feels reactive, sensitive, stressed, red or prone to hormonal-looking breakouts.

Choose the Prebiotic Moisturiser if your skin barrier feels dry, depleted, sensitive or in need of comfort.

If you are not sure where to start, message us and we’ll help guide you during the process - info@thesabi.co

Can I use more than one SABI blend at once

Yes, many customers use more than one SABI product.

For example, someone postpartum may use Mama Recover and The Calm. A breastfeeding mother may use the Breastfeeding Blend alongside our skincare. Someone with bloating and stress may use Digestive after meals and The Calm in the evening.

For our more concentrated herbal blends, especially when breastfeeding, we recommend using them 3–4 days total per week, rather than every single day.

We also recommend introducing one new blend at a time for a few days so you can understand how your body responds. Always follow the suggested use on each product and avoid exceeding the recommended serving.

Can I drink the blends iced

Yes. All of our blends are delicious warm or iced.

This is especially helpful during warmer months, while breastfeeding, or if you simply prefer a more refreshing way to take herbs consistently.

Brew your infusion first with hot water for 10–15 minutes, then allow it to cool and pour over ice.

Why do your blends taste different from supermarket herbal teas?

They are formulated for function first.

Many supermarket teas are designed mainly for flavour. The SABI blends are created around specific botanicals and the role they play in the formula. We still care deeply about taste (they are chef formulated), but our priority is purpose, quality and consistency.

These are not artificially flavoured teas. The taste comes from the herbs themselves.
